ABOUT SUSAN

Welcome to Susan Frates Nutrition & Fitness!
 
Susan Frates, MS, RD, LDN  is a Registered Dietician (RD) and received her masters degree in Human Nutrition from Boston University.  Her undergraduate degree is from Boston College. She maintains her LDN liscenced dietitian/ nutritionist liscensure via the Commonwealth of Massachusetts & the Academy of Dietetics and Nutritional Professionals.  Susan  is a National Medical Provider with a updated NPI (National Provider Identifier Number).

Her specialities include wellness and sports nutrition, weight loss, migraine managment, as well as disordered eating (anorexia, bulimia & binge eating disorder).   She treats many other conditions such as Childhood Obesity, Diabetes, PCOS and more.  She works with children, adolescents & adults.  She also provides parent & family coaching  education sessions to help support a loved one struggling with nutrition difficulties. 

Flexible hours are available weekends and afternoon & evenening on weekdays.

Susan is the nutritionist for Reebok International & Webb's Pro Fitness Health  Club.   She is a graduate school professor for Simmons College Department of Nutrition.  She previously was a professor for Harvard Medical School. 

Susan worked as the senior clinical adolescent nutritionist at Boston's Children's Hospital for over 15 years and was the Children's Hospital LEAH Nutrition Fellowship Director.   She has trained and mentored hundreds of clinical nutritionists, dietetic University students & Medical Doctors.  She also was the senior nutritionist for Boston Children's Hospital Center for Young Women's Health and wrote nutrition guides and the "Wellness 101" fitness site (www.youngwomenshealth.org   (click on "nutriiton guides" and "Wellness 101".  She developed "Club 333" a fitness/ nutrition support & education group for overweight & obese adolescents.

Her client list includes the Boston Ballet, Fitness Resource  Associates & numerous Boston based universities & corporations.  She has spoken at international & local nutrition conferences, and is a published nutrition author. 

Susan has been featured on Fox 25 news, High-On-Health national cable Program, and in the Boston Globe and Patriot Ledger

She is also a fitness instructor, who teaches both personal training, muscle conditioning, aerobics, water aerobic classes and swimming lessons.  Susan has worked at Webb's Pro Fitness Club in Norwell since 1983.  Personal fitness training sessions are also available.

Eating right doesn't have to be difficult. In fact, it shouldn't. I will design a specialized plan for you that will be incredibly easy to follow, and will change the way you eat forever.

My program consists of a balance of education, modeling, guidance, and emotional support. Breaking difficult eating habits is one of the most challenging things that one can face. Together, we will replace unhealthful habits with balanced & energizing ones. You will develop habits that uplift your spirit and bring you happiness through fitness, good health, and mental clarity.

Even if your current eating habits are nutritionally sound, I will show you ways you can further maximize the benefits of healthy eating & provide current research medically evidence based nutrition & health updates. .

I will also show you the many new and exciting ways to prepare your food. I help you naviagate grocery shopping and make the right decisions.

I am supportive & never discouraging.  Most clients find our sessions a peaceful and uplifting experience!
